1992 - Ruben Sierra and Ken Griffey Jr. each hit a home run and Sierra, Griffey, Pat Kelly and Mark McGwire each drove in a pair of runs as the American League beat the National League 13-6 in the All-Star game.
1997 - Ron Coomer hit a go-ahead double in the sixth inning and the Minnesota Twins overcame Albert Belle's 20th homer to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3.
2002 - Aberdeen golfer Heidi Ruch claimed the Pre-Senior title at the SDGA women's stroke play championship in Yankton. Ruch finished with a three-day total of 257 to edge Sioux Falls' Karen Rohde by three strokes.
2007 - Tyler West pitched a three-hitter and collected three-hits of his own and Adam Dutenhoffer added two doubles and a grand slam home run, driving in six runs, to lead Frederick to a 13-3 Mobridge in the second game of a VFW Teener baseball doubleheader. Mobridge took the first game 12-4.
2011 - Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run homer and Delmon Young had three hits in his return to the lineup as the Minnesota Twins claimed their seventh win in their past nine games, an 8-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.
