1987 - Ipswich scored 32 points in the second half, including 18 in the final period, to rally to a 49-37 high school boys' basketball victory over Gettysburg. Jim Kolker topped Ipswich with 13 points and Jim Seyer and Wayne Gauer added 11 and 10. Brian Robbennolt led Gettysburg with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
1997 - Curtis Martin rushed for 166 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the New England Patriots to a 28-3 National Football League playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a berth in the AFC championship game opposite the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing in just their second season in the league. The NFC title game will feature the NFL's other second-year team, the Carolina Panthers, against the Green Bay Packers.
2002 - Andrea Ronderos netted 15 points and Tia Michalski added 11 to lead the Northern State women's basketball team to a 78-39 triumph over Minnesota-Crookston.
2007 - Aberdeen Roncalli bolted out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter and went on to a 52-44 high school girls' basketball victory over Clark. Kendra Titze and Katie Heller scored 11 points each to lead Roncalli.
2011 - Taylor Zirbel scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Zach Janssen added 14 points as Summit handed Waubay a 51-45 high school boys' basketball setback.
