MINNEAPOLIS -- Northern State swept Bemidji State in a doubleheader on Friday at the Metrodome.

NSU defeated the Beavers 4-2 and 7-2 in a non-conference twin bill between the two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foes. With the two wins, the Wolves improve to 3-1 on the young season.

“It was just a good day all around,” Northern State coach Dean Berry said. “We got some timely hitting and some good pitching, good defense. We put a lot of it together at the right time and did a lot of good things.”

Cameron Lehner went 6-for-8 at the plate during the doubleheader and drove in two runs. He also had a double. Robbie Rocamora and Danny Fischer both had doubles during the day. Derek Tymesen had a triple in the first game. Kris Keating picked up the win in game one and Clint Manzo earned the win in game two.

“We had some great contributions and people are really starting to see the ball,” Berry said. “That is a challenge for our hitters is to see that live pitching and get timing down and make adjustments and we started to see a lot more of that in day two and that is pretty typical.”

The Wolves now be off until the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., in early March.
