- The 121-year-old Mitchell Corn Palace (it has been rebuilt two times since 1892) hosted its first ever bull-riding competition on Friday and Saturday.
- The deadline for turning in rosters for the Aberdeen Men’s City League Basketball has been extended to 5 p.m. today at the Parks, Recreation and Forestry office.
- Former South Dakota State three-year starter and two-time all-conference offensive tackle Greg Miller died of natural causes on Thursday at the age of 57 at his Nebraska home in Grand Island. The Mitchell native was serving as the player personnel director the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. Before that, Miller spent 13 years scouting the Great Plains area for the Denver Broncos.
