(WSBT) St. Joseph's Brad Guinane kind of stumbled into football by accident.

"I was a soccer player, I was a goalie, up until seventh grade, and then all my friends were playing football so I decided to go out for football,” Guinane explained.

The senior is now a two-sport athlete, playing football and basketball for the Bears.

Being 6 feet 6 inches tall has advantages for the court and the gridiron.

"He's the best receiver for sure in this part of the state, maybe the whole state,” said St. Joseph’s Head Coach Elliott Uzelac. “He's just a great player, great leader, and I'm thrilled to have him on the team. I just think the world of him."

Two years ago the Bears finished up their season at 0-9, but thanks to Brad and a couple of other talented seniors they are now 11-0 and taking on Lansing Sexton for a regional title!

"Me and a couple other guys were on the team two years ago when we were 0-9,” Guinane told WSBT Sports. “So this means a lot to come out here and have an undefeated season so far and to keep it going."

Brad has a 3.4 GPA and hasn't decided which of his two sports he wants to pursue in college, but he does have a favorite school that he keeps under wraps.

"Well I like Michigan State but don't tell Coach that because he's a big Michigan guy!” he said.

Congratulations to Brad Guinane, this week’s Burger King Outstanding High School Athlete!

Thanks for noticing the St. Joseph Bears. It's been a wonderful year and a total team effort to get to this point in the playoffs. Go BEARS!
