SOUTH BEND — Following in his father's footsteps, Riley senior J.T. Breveard is making a name for himself around the South Bend hoops circuit.

"My dad played for Washington High School, his name is Anton Breveard, and he actually wants me to be better than he was,” J.T. told WSBT Sports. “So he’s just been pushing me and letting me know what I need to do right.”

Last week the 5-foot-9-inch guard knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to keep the Wildcats in a game that would end in double overtime, and give Riley a share of the NIC title for the first time since 1991.

It was definitely a moment dad could be proud of!

"He actually told me that he had a feeling that I was going to come down there and do something like that,” J.T. said. “I just had to do it, I guess."

The Wildcats are now 6-1 heading into Friday's big match up with the St. Joe Indians.

“He comes to practice every day with the joy that he enjoys being there, with the like that he wants to get better every day and this is what he brings to the team,” explained Riley head coach Mark Johnson. “It's very, very contagious, a positive energy you can't beat."

After finishing his stellar senior season, J.T. plans to take his game to the college level and is still deciding where he is going to play.

Congratulations to J.T. Breveard, the Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week!

Hey, what took you guys so long to win the NIC again? Good job, but let's hope it doesn't take this long for the next conference title. Go Wildcats!!!
