NILES — With a father who coaches, and five kids who all play, the Parks family is just a few subs short of a pretty decent roster!

"My whole family plays basketball, so basketball has always been real fun for me, it’s my favorite sport,” Jordan told WSBT Sports. “It gets competitive sometimes, but that's the way we like it!"

So it makes sense that Niles senior Jordan Parks knows about teamwork.

"Whatever coach asks him to do, he's willing to do it, and whatever the team asks him to do, he's willing to do it,” said Niles senior Demetrius Phillips. “He represents both the community and our basketball team very well."

"I think in a lot of ways Jordan is the best that Niles High School has to offer,” said Niles head coach Todd Pawielski. “He's a terrific student, he's a good athlete, he's involved in about every extracurricular club that you can have here at the school. On the basketball floor he is the ultimate competitor. Sometimes we have to rein him in just a little bit, but I think he's one of the best shooters in the area.”

Despite his competitive nature, Jordan is undecided about playing hoops in college. But it's not because he's having trouble finding college teams to take him.

"I know that sports really affect my academic life and that comes first,” Jordan said. “I want to get a really good job when I'm older, and I just want to have my life straight. If basketball gets in the way of that then that's something I might have to give up."

One thing Jordan won't be giving up is a very bright future.

Congratulations to Jordan Parks, the Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week!

Nice job Jordan, I will be playing for your Dad at I.U.S.B. next year. I hope to see you there!
