SOUTH BEND — Clay tennis player Cara Brown is smart, aggressive on the court, and she can 'serve-up' a sense of humor. Sounds like a perfect example of a Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete.

Mixing together Spanish and a British accent of all things, Clay junior Cara Brown leads the Colonial tennis team in a cheer before their next match.

"We had this cheer for a long time where we just spelled out Clay. A lot of teams do it. We kind of get goofy, but we make some people laugh, so it's OK," Brown told WSBT Sports.

There's plenty more to cheer about when it comes to the number one singles player Brown, a First Team All-Conference selection.

"She's an aggressive tennis player, she loves to bring the power. Once she gets her game to where she likes it, no one’s going to be able to stop her. She’s just going to roll right over people, just kill ‘em,’” raved Coach Ron Petty.

Carrying a 3.7 GPA, Brown helped start Clay's Ping-Pong Club — a natural fit for a tennis player — and one who knows the importance of a solid 'ground game.'

"This year I've worked really hard and I have all As. It wasn't always like that, but this year I've worked really hard," said Brown.

Brown hopes to take her 'total-package' to where she can play to her strengths, and stay warm at the same time.

"I definitely want to go to college and play tennis somewhere on the West Coast," added Brown.

Congratulations to Cara Brown, the Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week!
