SOUTH BEND — These days, Clay's Brad Cameron is all pearly whites. This after delivering the Colonials an unforgettable basketball moment when he hit an off-balance buzzer-beater in the Sectional Championship game.

"I still get chills thinking about it. It was an amazing shot with the moment and everything. It felt really good," Cameron told WSBT Sports.

"A shot like that goes in — you think of all the hard work from the year and the time and effort that goes into it. I was just so happy for them," added Clay Coach Joe Huppenthal.

One of the funniest wrinkles of the story came in the joyous aftermath, and it'll certainly only get better told over time — Cameron tore off with his teammates, while Huppenthal took off into the stands to find his family.

"He's the coach. You would think he would know how to run upstairs instead of fall," joked Cameron.

"I jumped up, and I missed it! At that point, I wasn't feeling anything so it didn't matter," laughed Huppenthal.

Turns out, Cameron, the NIC Player of the Year and a B student, has more than one reason to smile. A possible career in the dental field may await.

"People always comment on my teeth, so I'm a big teeth guy," Cameron added.

Regardless of that, Cameron and the entire Clay following will always be ear-to-ear when they think back to that special night in March.

"That is what the tourney is all about. I told the kids that it's moments like these that people will talk about 20 years down the road from now. It's something we'll never forget," summed up Huppenthal.

Congratulations to Brad Cameron, the Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week!
