MISHAWAKA — For two years, the power of the Marian lineup has come from Ashleigh Bousquet.

"She just loves playing the game of softball. She understands the game better than most players at this level, and that's a huge advantage for her," said coach George Grenert.

And Bousquet's advantage has meant advantage Knights! Marian is ranked 4th in this week's Class 3-A poll. Despite the success, Bousquet finds herself motivated by a loss in last season's state semi-finals.

"We want to do better than last year. We don't want to go through that again," said Bousquet.

Ashleigh is an honor student, and her coach expects her to be courted by a number of college programs by the time her senior years rolls around.
