ELKHART — Two weeks ago Elkhart Memorial senior Katie Grubb wrapped up a perfect career. At least perfect in conference play.

From the moment she walked onto the court as a freshman to the moment she walked off for the final time, Grubb led the Chargers at #1 singles.

And she never lost a single match in NLC conference play!

Grubb has played USTA tennis for years, something she credits for her development.

"It taught me a lot," Grubb says of playing USTA. "I've seen many types of players ... I know how to handle any situation (on the tennis court)."

Grubb's dominance on the tennis court is paralleled only by her success in the classroom.

"Tennis keeps me focused. I love coming to practice, competing in matches. School has been good too. I get all A's."

Katie's tennis career will continue in the fall at Bowling Green. Before she begins her college career, however, there's one more thing she'd like to accomplish in high school: win a state title.

Katie cruised through the sectional as an individual champion, and will compete this weekend in the regional just two wins away from advancing to State!

Congratulations to Katie Grubb, this week's Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete!
