Outstanding Student Athletes honored at the Cove

SOUTH BEND — Monday night at the Cove, WSBT along with Quality Dining and the South Bend SIlver Hawks, honored the 2008-2209 Outstanding Student Athletes of the Week.

CJ Fitzpatrick, Region Manger of Quality Dining, Burger King Division Pete Byrne, Sports Director from WSBT and Silver Hawks President, Joe Kernan were present to recognize the student’s outstanding achievements.

Burger King/WSBT Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week is a community award program whereby an area high school student athletes are selected and honored each week throughout the school year based on his/her athletic/academic achievements. During 2008-2009 School Year, students were chosen based on nominations received on line through the WSBT website. Athletes were nominated by coaches, teachers, principals, other athletes and parents.

The Outstanding Student Athlete of the Year will be announced during the 6:00 news on Thursday, June 11.
