Baltimore vs. Boston [Pictures]
With the Ravens and Patriots ready to stage a rematch of last season's AFC championship game on Sunday, Baltimoreans and Bostonians are all hard at work, looking for a competitive advantage and desperate to secure bragging rights. So, as a public service to both sides, we decided to weigh the competing cities' claims to superiority and reach an "objective" conclusion. Here it goes...

Battle sites
During the War of 1812, Baltimore's Fort McHenry withstood a British bombardment. The victory so inspired Frederick lawyer Francis Scott Key that he wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner," which is played before professional sports games everywhere -- even in Boston.
Advantage: Baltimore. True, Bunker Hill might have been something of a moral victory for the Colonies, but Fort McHenry was a victory, period. Plus, how many national anthems did Bunker Hill inspire? |
