PREP VOLLEYBALL
CRESAPTOWN, Md. — Heritage Academy swept Shalom Christian and Calvary Christian in the semifinals and final of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference tournament Saturday to win the championship for the third straight year.
The Eagles (18-0) have won 55 straight best-of-5 matches — 51 of them in the MDCC over the last three years. Heritage swept Shalom 25-16, 25-20, 25-15 in the semis and Calvary 25-11, 29-27, 25-19 in the final.
Kara Stamper wrapped up tournament MVP honors by racking up 49 kills, seven blocks, five aces and 40 digs in the two matches Saturday. Stamper also was named MDCC player of the year.
Nicole Gaylor — an All-MDCC first-team selection — finished with 32 digs Saturday. Chloe Prejean — an eighth-grader who was named to the All-MDCC second team — had 52 assists and 21 digs Saturday. Both Gaylor and Prejean were named to the all-tournament team.
Christi Jackson had 19 kills for Heritage on Saturday. Bethany Powell had 16 digs against Calvary.
Mercersburg finishes 2-6 at Hedgesville Tournment
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Mercersburg academy went 2-6 in eight pool-play sets.
The Blue Storm defeated Jefferson 26-24, 25-21, but fell to Hedgesville 25-20, 25-14, Philip Barbour 25-17, 25-18, and Martinsburg 25-12, 25-17.
Elise Robbins had 13 kills, 17 aces and 23 assists to lead Mercersburg. Melody Gomez had 14 kills, Vivi Hyacinthe had 10 kills and five blocks, MacKenzie Brink had eight kills and seven blocks, and Zoe Alpert had 21 digs.

Harrisburg 46, Chambersburg 22
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Robert Martin scored four touchdowns — three in the fourth quarter — and Harrisburg pulled away from Chambersburg in Saturday’s Mid-Penn Commonwealth game.
Martin opened the scoring with a 10-yard run in the first quarter for Harrisburg (6-2), then scored the game’s final three touchdowns as the Cougars scored the final 20 points. He had scoring runs of 3 and 42 yards and capped the scoring with a 37-yard interception return.
Ryan Martin threw touchdown passes of 4 yards to Taylor Tolbert and 10 yards to Kellen Williams for Chambersburg (4-4). Jamal Pickett scored on a 2-yard run that pulled the Trojans within 26-22 with 10:37 left in the game.
Peddie 42, Mercersburg 13
HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. — Peddie School jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat Mercersburg Academy in a MAPL game.
Matt Hirshman completed 20 of 36 passes for 179 yards for the Blue Storm (2-4, 0-3), including touchdown passes to Lorenzo Vazquez and Reggie Fiumano, who had seven receptions.
