NOTRE DAME --- Notre Dame held its commencement on Sunday, and now many of those graduates are looking for work. But one of their classmates already has a jump on the next stage of his careers.

Former Irish hockey player Christian Hanson recently signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a matter of fact, Hanson cemented his pro status within hours of the team's 1st round loss to Bemidji State in the NCAA tournament.

Six days after hios college career ended, Hanson was suited up for the famed Maple Leafs, and even scored his first NHL goal on future hall of fame goalie Martin Brodeur --- who also happens to be Hanson's childhood idol.

Hanson will spend the off-season in Toronto, working out at the Leafs facility, in hopes of sticking with the NHL team for years to come.
