ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Two West Virginia assistant coaches, including assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Calvin McGee, will follow former Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez to Michigan.

Defensive backs coach Tony Gibson also will join Rodriguez's staff in Ann Arbor, Michigan athletics spokesman Bruce Madej said Friday night.

Madej said he could not comment on an ESPN.com report that three other assistants — offensive line coach Greg Frey, quarterbacks coach Rod Smith and safeties coach Bruce Tall — also are headed to Michigan.

Rodriguez was named the Wolverines' head coach on Dec. 16. Assistant Bill Stewart became interim coach and was named the Mountaineers' head coach on Thursday, the day after West Virginia defeated Oklahoma 48-28 in the Fiesta Bowl.

Stewart said after being named head coach that he wanted the entire staff to return, although some were expected to join Rodriguez at Michigan. Gibson, who also served as West Virginia's recruiting coordinator, was the only assistant who had resigned as of Thursday.
