SOUTH BEND (AP) — Lindsay Schrader had 15 points and nine rebounds and No. 20 Notre Dame forced 29 turnovers en route to an 85-54 victory over Providence on Wednesday night.

The Irish (16-5, 4-3 Big East), who gave up 81 points against DePaul and Connecticut to lose back-to-back games at home for the first time in five years, had little trouble in improving to 16-0 all-time against Providence (11-9, 1-6).

The Irish scored 34 points off Providence turnovers, outrebounded the Friars 45-32 and outscored them inside 38-28.

Notre Dame started slowly, making just one of its first 10 shots to fall behind 9-3. But Tulyah Gaines got the Irish going with a steal, behind-the-back dribble and layup to ignite a 20-2 run — the second best first-half run this season for the Irish.

Seven different players scored for Notre Dame during the run as the Irish made 7-of-11 shots. The Irish pressed for much of the run, forcing six Providence turnovers in less than 5 minutes as the Friars shot just 1-of-7 from the floor.

Notre Dame forced 17 turnovers in the half, resulting in 19 points by the Irish, and led 36-19 at halftime. Notre Dame continued to pull away for most of the second half, twice opening leads of 35 points.

Charel Allen and Devereaux Peters had 12 points each for the Irish and Gaines and Melissa Lechlitner added 10 points. Mi-Khida Hankins led Providence with 15 points and Shantee Darian had 10.
