Despite being down 31-27 heading into the fourth quarter, the Riley Wildcats rallied over Warsaw Saturday at the Class 4-A Michigan City Regional.

Senior J.T. Breveard played strong down the stretch for the Wildcats, hitting two free throws with 1:27 left to play and contributing defensively.

Despite going 5-18 from the free throw line, Riley was able to outscore Warsaw 17-10 over the final eight minutes of the game to get the win 44-41. Riley will play East Chicago Central in the championship game Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

In the semifinals of the Class 3-A regional at Plymouth, Randy Davis scored 28 points and Nick Neidlinger added 15 to lead Plymouth to a 67-49 victory over Hammond Clark.

The Pilgrims will play last year’s Class 2-A state champion Northwestern at 8:30 Saturday night for the regional title. Northwestern, which was moved up to 3-A this season, beat Kankakee Valley 64-59 in Saturday’s other regional semifinal.

It was an exciting buzzer beater at Triton High School in the Class A semifinal Saturday! With the score tied, the Trojans missed two shots in the final five seconds before Colton Keel tipped the ball in for the win before the buzzer sounded.

The 51-49 victory earned the Trojans a chance to play the winner of the Tri-County-Fort Wayne Blackhawk games in Saturday night's final.
