SOUTH BEND (AP) — Anthony Solomon is returning to Notre Dame for a second stint as an assistant to basketball coach Mike Brey.

Solomon left the Fighting Irish following the 2003 season to take the head coaching job at St. Bonaventure. He was fired by St. Bonaventure in 2007 after a 7-22 season, the fourth straight year the Bonnies lost 19 or more games. He had a 24-88 in four years as head coach. Solomon spent the past season as an assistant at Dayton.

"I feel fortunate that we are able to bring back Anthony to our program. During my first three seasons, he was such a key individual to our success," Brey said.

Solomon replaces Gene Cross, who was named Toledo's head coach last month.
