ND's Clausen, teammates possibly linked to underage drinking in photos

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame's starting quarterback is back under the microscope. For the second summer in a row, some are linking Jimmy Clausen to underage drinking.

The website The Big Lead published pictures of Clausen and teammates Brian Smith, James Aldridge and Armando Allen standing around a table with cups and pitchers full of what appears to be beer. The website says the group was participating in something called the "Beer Olympics."

However, there is no date on the photos or any information about where the photos were taken.

For Clausen, this comes on the heels of an incident last June when he was cited for transporting alcohol as a minor.

Clausen and company won't be available to the media until Friday's Media Day.

We contacted Notre Dame officials Tuesday afternoon. A source with the University said: "We are aware of it. It's hard to know absolutely for sure what went on just from the photos."

The source wouldn't confirm or deny a possible investigation, but did say “Student Affairs would treat it as a confidential situation.”
