SOUTH BEND - Clay upset NIC champion Penn, 3-1 in the sectional, ending the Kingsmen's 8-year reign as sectional champs. Clay will meet Adams, a 9-5 winner over Mishawaka, in Monday's sectional championship.

Despite scoring 23 runs in their opening round game Friday night, Penn couldn't recapture the magic on offense Saturday against Clay.

Playing on their home field, the Colonials kept the Kingsmen off the scoreboard for the first six innings of the game.

Clay took the lead for good in the 4th inning, when a Matt Timms RBI double scored two runs.

Clay's 3-1 win sends them back to the sectional final for the 2nd year in a row.

This year, the Colonials will face fellow South Bend city rival Adams, a 9-5 winner over Mishawaka.

The Eagles appeared to be comfortably ahead, after Tyler Krempasky's first career home run, a 3-run blast over the right field fence, gave Adams a 9-2 lead.

Mishawaka put together a 2-out rally, cutting the deficit to 9-5 before Adams' James Szucs came in and go the final out.

Clay and Adams will meet at Coveleski Stadium on Monday night for the sectional championship. First pitch - 7:00.
