BLOOMINGTON — Adams senior Logan Griffith edged Elkhart Central senior Quontrel Wiley by two-100ths of a second to win a state championship in the 110-meter high hurdles at State this past weekend.

But he wasn't the only local standout on the Indiana University track in Bloomington.

Mishawaka senior Nick Banke got his long-sought state discus championship, wrapping up an undefeated season in that event. Banke threw 179 feet for the title--a distance that isn't even close to his personal best of over 190 feet, but he was happy to accept the gold.

The distance wasn't what he was hoping for — "only" 179 feet, 2 inches — but as Banke was feeling all the pressure in the world when he arrived at the meet, he was more than happy to accept a gold medal.

Bremen senior Jared Miller took runner-up honors in the 200, also behind Terrell. He outleaned Richmond's Leo Cordova for second, clocking 21.59.

Congratulations to our State Champs!
