NOTRE DAME — After a stellar rookie campaign, Notre Dame pitcher Ryan Richter has been named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-America Team.

Richter (South Bend, Ind.) posted a 5-2 record and 3.86 ERA in 2009, recording 19 strikeouts and 17 walks in 30.1 innings. He made 13 appearances for the Irish, including three starts. He was at his best out of the Notre Dame bullpen. In 10 relief outings, Richter went 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 21.1 innings. He allowed just 13 hits and punched out 12.

In BIG EAST action, Richter logged a perfect 1-0 mark and compiled a 1.42 ERA.

Richter is a former South Bend St. Joseph's High School standout.
