Marian, LaPorte & Warsaw Golf advance to state

LAPORTE - Marian fired a 314 at Beechwood golf course in LaPorte, good for a 2nd place finish in the boys golf regional.

LaPorte shot a 322 team score, one stroke ahead of Penn, to edge the Kingsmen for a birth in the state golf finals on June 16th and 17th. Chesterton(307) won the regional.

Marian was led by senior Adam Sumrall, whose 74 was the third best round of the day.

Sumrall is expected to contend for an individual state title, after a runner-up finishes as a sophomore.

Joining Marian and LaPorte in the state finals, will be Warsaw, which advanced out of the Homestead regional.

Triton, Northridge and Tippecanoe Valley failed to advance past the regional.
