Cameron Roberson became the 15th recruit to commit to Notre Dame’s recruiting class of 2010 this weekend.

After visiting Notre Dame for the Nevada game, Roberson a 6-foot-1, 217-pound back out of Newbury Park High School in California, picked the Irish over Northwestern and Arizona.

Roberson, a four-star recruit according to Tom Lemming’s Prep Football Report, rushed for 1,450 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior.

"He’s blessed with great size, speed and enormous strength," Lemming said in his report. "He also shows good body control and change of direction."

He had numerous other offers, said his coach, Gary Fabricius, who indicated the recruiting of Roberson had started to pick up lately from the major schools.

"He got back late Sunday," said Fabricius, whose Panthers open this Friday. "And we had an early workout with a film session on Monday.

"He had a little different kick to his step. I haven’t heard all the details, but he seemed to have a glow.

"It’s pretty exciting to have one of your local guys get to go to the big time," Fabricius continued. "We were pretty sure, based on his studies and work ethic and talent, he would have some choices. It was just a matter of where he thought he would fit in.

"He’s a big kid, a nice blend of size and speed."

Per NCAA rules, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis is not allowed to comment on recruits until national signing day in February.
