Northern Illinois Non-Committal on Jones Transfer

By WSBT News1

DE KALB, Ill. (AP) -- Northern Illinois officials are noncommittal amid reports that Notre Dame quarterback Demetrius Jones has enrolled at the school.

Huskies coach Joe Novak says he's heard all the rumors but has had no contact with Jones, his family or other representatives.

Several newspapers and Web sites reported today that Jones was transferring. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Jones enrolled at Northern Illinois this week so that he would have to sit out only the current season.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound sophomore from Chicago started Notre Dame's season opener against Georgia Tech but was benched in the second quarter after completing 1 of 3 passes and fumbling twice. He did not join the Irish for their trip to Michigan.
