Prep basketball: Loggers rolls past Central Lake; Inland Lakes wins
The Loggers — who on Friday clinched a second straight Northern Lakes Conference title — improved to 15-1 overall with the win.
Brendon Matelski scored 17 points, added 10 rebounds and six assists.
The Loggers rolled to a 20-5 first quarter lead as the bounces and shots were going Boyne Falls way from the start. They extended their lead to 33-8 at halftime.
“Tonight I thought we played championship caliber basketball in a lot of different ways,” said Boyne Falls coach Tim Smith. “It was a physical game.”
By the third quarter the Loggers had pushed the game to 45-15. Not even an 18 point fourth quarter by Central Lake could push them all the way back.
Will Brockman led Central Lake, 3-14, with 13 points on the night.
Inland Lakes 59, Mancelona 52
MANCELONA — Dakotah Davedowski finished with a team-high 26 points including six 3-pointers as the Bulldogs topped Mancelona Monday in a Ski Valley Conference contest.
With the win, the Bulldogs move to 6-10 overall, 5-7 league, while Mancelona falls to 12-5, 12-3.
Inland Lakes has won three of their last four starts.
Also for the Bulldogs, who led at the quarter breaks 12-11, 32-24 and 50-39, Todd Athey added 16 points.
For Mancelona, Brandon Dingman finished with 26 points and Brandon Scott added 14.
Harbor Light 56, Ellsworth 46
ELLSWORTH — Annie Fila led the Harbor Light Christian girls’ basketball team with 16 points as the Swordsmen picked up a Northern Lakes Conference win against Ellsworth Monday.
Shelby Donovan scored 10 points and picked up 12 rebounds while Ashley Osborn added 11 points.
