EAST JORDAN —Strong performances all the way around.

The Harbor Springs High School girls track team put together a solid team effort in finishing runner-up in the Division II portion of the East Jordan Invitational Thursday at Boswell Stadium.

St. Ignace won the eight-team Division II girls title with 150.33 points, while the Rams were runner-up with 149. Charlevoix was third with 120, while Boyne City was fourth, 99.33, and Pellston fifth, 49.33.

Lake City won the Division II boys meet with 136 points, followed by Charlevoix, 124; Boyne City, 108.5; East Jordan, 83; and Harbor Springs, 65.5.

The Harbor girls  were led by their 800-meter relay team of Salix Sampson, Charlotte Cullip, Rhi Cullip and Elena Ongaro. That quartet finished in a school-record time of 1 minute, 50.32 seconds. The Rams also won the 400 relay, 53.24; while Rhi Cullip won the 400, 1:01.08; Sampson was first in the 200, 27.45; and Jenna Lechowicz won the discus, 104 feet, 4 inches.

“We placed pretty high in almost every event,” Harbor coach Emily Kloss said. “We had a lot of good performances, and that’s good and it was needed. Our upperclassmen have basically had a week and a half break since their last meet.

“I’m pretty happy with our results.”

Also in the girls meet, Charlevoix’s 3200 relay team of Olivia Certa, Kourtney Putman, Amber Way and Molly Jeakle set a meet record as they finished first in 9:56.28.

Also for the Rayders, Madeline Boss won the long jump, 15-5; while Jeakle was first in the 800, 2:27.06; Certa won the 3200, 11:53.66; and the Rayders also won the 1600 relay (Caroline Boss, Madeline Boss, Stirling Witthoeft, Jeakle) in 4:16.99.

Boyne City’s Kylie Hicks won both the 100 hurdles, 15.55; and the 300 hurdles, 46.98; while the Ramblers’ Mary Myers won the pole vault, 8-0.

Pellston’s Tayler Friend won the high jump, 5-3.

Kirk Acharya of Charlevox won the boys 1600 in 4:48.60, and he ran a leg on the Rayders’ 3200 relay team which finished first in 8:27.01. Nick Snabes, Nicholas Plude and Jackson Buday joined Acharya in the relay.

Nicholas Plude ran a leg on Charlevoix’s 1600 relay team, which finished first in 3:34.57. Will Jeakle, John Boss and Andrew Plude rounded out the relay squad.

Boyne City won five events in the boys meet, two each by Dean Hague and Tevin Larmond.

Larmdon won the 100 in 11.34 seconds and the 200 in 23.11. Hague was first in the 110 hurdles in 16.49, and the 300 hurdles, 41.86. The Ramblers’ Jay Redman was first in the 400 in 52.49.

East Jordan’s Luke Hawley placed first in the 800, 2:01.19; while Josh Wojan won the 3200, 9:45.12. Harbor Springs’ Sam Hansen won the long jump, 19-10.

Girls
