Super Bowl Saturday? Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
Super Bowl Wednesday? Um, yeah, not so much.
Both are possibilities for 2014, according to an article in Sports Business Journal on the NFL's extensive contingency plan for next year's outdoor championship game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
"The league is considering various options that include the possibility of delaying the contest several days in the event of a weather emergency on game day," states the article, written by Daniel Kaplan, Terry Lefton and John Ourand. "The league even could decide to play the game on Saturday if faced with an ominous forecast, sources said."
Of course, changing the date of the Super Bowl -- which is set for Sunday, Feb. 2 -- would create many more challenges, so it is a move the NFL will make only if it has to.
But better make sure you have a sick day or two saved up just in case.
