Wednesday was national signing day for winter and spring sports and several local athletes cemented their futures.
In Salem where guard Tay Taylor has led the Spartans to the state basketball tournament the last two years. Taylor is headed to Wake Forest to play in the ACC for head coach Jen Hoover, the former star at William Byrd High School.
Christiansburg wrestlers Joey Dance and Zach Epperly signed today to continue their careers on the mat at Virginia Tech. Both are three time state champs and all Americans.
Their classmate Leah Piomonte will join them in Blacksburg as a member of the diving team. She is a three time state champ and state record holder.
In Blacksburg, Ryan Mondy is taking his golf game to nearby Virginia Tech. Ryan's older brother Jake tees it up for Auburn.
To William Byrd where the signings continued. Pitcher/utility player Collin Hill signed on the dotted line to play at Radford University next season. He batted .355 last year for Byrd and was an all Blue Ridge District selection as an outfielder.
At Hidden Valley, pitcher Ryan Lauria is taking his talents to Louisville after receiving offers from both Tech and Radford. The hard throwing right hander was joined at the table today by volleyball player Caroline Boone who will play for Francis Marion University in South Carolina. Boone is a big reason why the Titans are back in the state semis this weekend.
And last but not least, George Wythe basketball player Kristin Atwell will continue her carer at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
