Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter of South Bend Washington was named the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Week for the week ending September 6, after his record-breaking performance.
Dieter amassed 447 receiving yards and four touchdowns, breaking the previous record of 421 yards set by J.D. Felice of (Rose Bud, Ark.) in 2008.
Following the game the 6-foot-3, 210-pound receiver tweeted about his accomplishment. "I just broke the national record for yards in a game. DOUBLE AND TRIPLE TEAMED the entire game. 447 yards and 4 TDs #humbled," he posted. Through three games, Dieter has an astounding 1,158 receiving yards.
Dieter is also the reigning WSBT-TV/Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete
