The Lefty Smith Ice Rink being built on Notre Dame’s campus will be the new home of Irish hockey when they move in this fall.
But they'll be sharing the ice.
Olympic figure skating gold medalist Brian Boitano, musical guest Chicago and the University of Notre Dame’s Band of the Fighting Irish will star in the Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular, a new theatrical figure skating event at 5 p.m. EST., Nov. 20, at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
Special guest stars for the Boitano show will include three-time United States figure skating champion and two-time world bronze medalist Michael Weiss, world champion Yuka Sato -- as well as 2011 U.S champion Ryan Bradley, two-time world professional champions Elena Leonova and Andrei Khvalko, and seven-time British national champions Sinead and John Kerr.
Boitano captured his first national title in 1985 and went on to win two world titles and the gold medal at the1988 Olympic Winter Games. His unmatched competitive record also includes four national titles, and a record six world professional championships. Boitano is a member of the United States Olympic Committee Hall of Fame.
Ticket information for the event will be announced this summer.
