South Bend Tribune Sports Writer Eric Hansen became part of the national story surrounding Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o.
Hansen wrote a story for the Tribune in October that described the first time Manti and Lennay met, details got from Te'o's father.
WSBT asked him for his impression of Te'o's interview with Katie.
He said he believes Te'o.
“This is a kid who made so many decisions in his life based upon faith that weren’t pragmatic decisions,” said Hansen. “Coming to Notre Dame was a leap of faith for this guy coming at the 11th hour. You know, not to go on his Mormon mission was a leap of faith. Coming back for his senior year was a leap of faith. In that context, some of what he is talking about seems very consistent with who he’s been for at least the 3 or 4 years that I knew him.”
