Notre Dame football: Elliott offers quality, class to ND staff
back when the two used to watch film together before the VHS format
become a new-fangled idea.
Lemming still sees the now 58-year-old version of Elliott in the same light.
"I've got nothing but rave reviews for Bobby," the longtime CBS
College Sports recruiting analyst said. "As a recruiter, he's an
extremely polished, intelligent, well-spoken guy who comes across very
well in homes. He looks and acts like a head coach.
"On the field, he's extremely knowledgeable about defense, about
special teams, just about everything football. He's been around a long
time, and he's always been successful."
And sometime very soon, perhaps as early as Friday, he'll be doing it
for Notre Dame.
Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads confirmed in a statement early
Wednesday that Elliott would be leaving his defensive backs coaching
position for the Cyclones and heading to ND.
Elliott is expected to coach defensive backs, along with co-defensive
coordinator Kerry Cooks, whom Elliott himself tutored as a player
during a long coaching run at the University of Iowa.
