NOTRE DAME - The Notre Dame hockey team will begin the 2012-13 season ranked 10th in the country. The USA Today pre-season college hockey poll was released today, with the Irish ranked 10th.
Notre Dame plays five opponents also ranked in the Top Ten, including co number one's Boston College & Minnesota. In all, the Irish will play eight games against the top four teams this year.
This marks the seventh time in the program’s history that the Irish have been ranked in the preseason polls. The previous times occurred prior to the start of the 1972-73 season (8th), the 1973-74 campaign (2nd), in 2007-08 (8th), 2008-09 (3rd), 2009-10 (5th), 2011-12 (2nd) and 10th this year.
The regular season begins October 12th against Maine.
