Cassie Boocher is one of the most dominating pitchers in the state. She's the unquestioned leader of the juggernaut that is the undefeated South Bend Riley softball team.

And she's not even the best Boocher in the dugout.

"Expectations are pretty high," she jokes.

Boocher is 11-0 this season with five complete game shutouts.

"If they get a hit or I walk somebody, I can be able to shake it off, come back, throw a strike, get an out," she said.

But there's one batter she'll thankfully never have to face, her older sister, Katie. Who is now her coach. Who was also one of the best hitters this area has ever seen.

"Ever since probably tee ball, ever since I started playing, I always wanted to be like my big sister," Cassie said. "And probably never told her that. But it's always in the back of my mind. I've always wanted to be better than her, to make her proud of me."

"It's an adventure," Katie said. "Every day brings something new. We get on each other like we're at home sometimes, but we have to remember that we're at work, and we've come to play instead of just hanging out at home."

In as much as Katie was at home at the plate, she tries to pass that on to Cassie in the circle.

"I try to give her about everything that I have," Katie said.

But Katie says most of that comes to her little sister naturally. What won't come though, is a showdown to prove, once and for all, which sister really is the best.

"Not yet," Cassie said. "I don't think I've gained that much courage yet.

"I think I'd take one to the face."
