Tori Milliner might not be Penn's leading scorer, but there's no doubt she's one of Penn's leaders.
A lot of what she does shows up on a stat sheet ("I'm a rebounder," Milliner says of her role), but there's a lot more that doesn't.
"We always do our pre-game ritual dances before our games, and they make fun of me and my dance moves," Milliner explains. "I think think they're good dance moves. They don't think so. They think I'm very repetitive.
"I like to think I'm funny, so that helps them not be stressed and nervous before games."
"Yes, I've seen some of their dances," Penn coach Kristi Kaniewski said. "We think of her as the Team Mom. She always echoes what the coaches are saying, and she's such a tremendous leader.
I mean, she's a three year captain for us, and she'll go out there and do all the dirty work and do anything that needs to be done to help our team succeed, whether it's rebounding, scoring, making a great pass, she's willing to do whatever it takes."
Her dance moves might be up for debate, but her impact on her teammates certainly is not. Neither are her grades. Milliner carries a 3.8 GPA, and is headed to Indiana University in the fall.
But not to play basketball. Which means these are the final games of her career.
"We were thinking about that," Milliner said. "Like, these could be my last few practices. And that's sad, but I don't want that to happen, so that's kind of my motivation. I want to keep playing and so I want to get to that championship game."
