SOUTH BEND - South Bend Adams finished 2-8 on the football field last season. However, you won't see many discouraged faces around the Eagles practice fields this year.
The Eagles have 16 starters coming back for coach Craig Redman's second season leading the program.
Redman's biggest hurdle is getting his players to believe they can win, and he's doing it in a rather unconventional way. Every day, before and after practice, he reminds his players that Adams' last winning season came in 1993. And he asks them to think about what it would be like if they were the team that finally changed that.
"What would it be like walking through the hallways of South Bend Adams high school with your kids," Redman asks his players.
"Showing them a picture of an NIC championship on the walls, and telling your kids 'Daddy was part of this team that stated this winning program at Adams?'"
