The showdown lived up to the hype.

Mishawaka's Anna Rohrer and Warsaw's Ashley Erba finished first and second, respectively, in the Indiana state cross country meet, both breaking the record in the process.

Erba, a senior and the defending state champion, set the record at 18:05.6 last season. She ran a time of 17:29.2 Saturday, second only to Rohrer's 17:13.2, which broke the record by 52.4 seconds.

Rohrer is a sophomore. Erba won the Mental Attitude Award.
