Ball State and Michigan have announced the two schools will meet in a football game in 2016 in Ann Arbor, Mich.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to have our student-athletes experience one of the most historic football stadiums in college football," Ball State athletics director Bill Scholl says. "This is a perfect fit for our scheduling philosophy as we move forward with the Ball State football program."

The two teams will meet Sept. 24, 2016, in Michigan's final non-conference game of the season. Michigan is coached by Ball State alum, football letterwinner and former head football coach Brady Hoke. Hoke played linebacker for the Cardinals from 1977-80, and was Ball State's head coach from 2003-08.

The Cardinals have played Michigan in football one time before with the Wolverines posting a 34-26 victory Nov. 4, 2006, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
