The Indianapolis Department of Transportation issued a full force callout of their plow trucks for the Indianapolis area Thursday.
INDOT said crews pretreated highways with brine Wednesday in preparation for Thursday’s snowfall.
Sixty-eight plow trucks will cover 1,500 lane-miles of state highways in Marion County, with more than 100 of the trucks servicing roads in the metro area.
Additionally, the Indy Snow Force said there will be 90 snow truck drivers treating primary and secondary streets throughout the day.
Light snow is expected to fall throughout the day, with the highest snow totals north of Indianapolis. Fox59’s Jim O’Brien said the steadiest snow will fall Thursday afternoon, with some area roads becoming slick during the evening rush.
The snow is expected to fall across Central Indiana until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service of Indianapolis reported the snow will accumulate, and the highest amounts of accumulation will be seen in Lafayette and Muncie with 1 to 1.5 inches. Indianapolis could expect to see approximately 1 inch of snow.
