MALDEN, Mass. — Harold Brenner, 90, of Medford, Mass., entered eternal rest peacefully on Nov. 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Brenner was a World War II Navy veteran who enlisted on Dec. 8, 1941, and served as Chief Electricians Mate on PC474 and the USS Chicago. He was a devoted husband of 65 years to Tillie Cooperstein Brenner, with whom he loved to dance. Spending time with family, enjoying life to the fullest, sharing his sense of humor, telling jokes and making others laugh were with him to the very end.
He was always there to lend a helping hand to everyone in need, and all the children in his life had a special place in his heart. Harold had a successful career as a financial planner. He was a Mason, Shriner, past president of Medford Bnai Brith and a member of Temple Shalom of Medford.
He was the beloved father of Mark Brenner (Ellen Wetter-Brenner) of New York City, Ronda Brenner (Robert Goldstein) of Belmont and Cynthia “Cindy” Brenner-Ellsworth (the late Bob Ellsworth) of Danville, Ky.; cherished grandfather of Anna Brenner, Jared Brenner-Goldstein, Rachel Brenner-Goldstein, Justin Ellsworth and Eric (Jenna) Ellsworth.
One of 11 children, he was the brother of Dorothy Appel, Charles, Robert, David and Daniel Brenner, the late Selma Callum, Charlotte Kahan, and Gilbert, Ernest and Bernard Brenner.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Temple Shalom, 475 Winthrop St., Medford, Mass. Interment will be in Bourne.
Condolence calls may be made 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, and 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner-Goldstein residence.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to either The Hochberg Lymphoma Research Fund or the Lunder 9 Unit Fund c/o Nurse Director Barbara Cashavelly at Massachusetts General Hospital, 165 Cambridge St., Boston, MA 02114.
