Baltimore vs. Boston [Pictures]


With the Ravens and Patriots ready to stage a rematch of last season's AFC championship game on Sunday, Baltimoreans and Bostonians are all hard at work, looking for a competitive advantage and desperate to secure bragging rights. So, as a public service to both sides, we decided to weigh the competing cities' claims to superiority and reach an "objective" conclusion. Here it goes...

During the War of 1812, <b>Baltimore</b>'s Fort McHenry withstood a British bombardment. The victory so inspired Frederick lawyer Francis Scott Key that he wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner," which is played before professional sports games everywhere -- even in Boston.<br>

During the War of 1812, Baltimore's Fort McHenry withstood a British bombardment. The victory so inspired Frederick lawyer Francis Scott Key that he wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner," which is played before professional sports games everywhere -- even in Boston.

Advantage: Baltimore. True, Bunker Hill might have been something of a moral victory for the Colonies, but Fort McHenry was a victory, period. Plus, how many national anthems did Bunker Hill inspire?
