A man was found shot and killed Friday night in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
Officers responded about 11:20 p.m. to the 6100 block of South Morgan Street, where they found the victim slain. Police at the scene draped a white sheet over the body, which was lying on the curb and in the street near the corner of 62nd and Morgan streets.
The man, identified as 33-year-old Tremayne Franklin by the Cook County medical examiner's office, was shot in the back of the head. A spokesman for the medical examiner's office said he lived in the 7900 block of South Kinsgston Avenue.
Much of Morgan south of 61st was blocked by police and a crowd gathered on the north end of the crime scene. A man briefly exchanged loud words with an officer before friends walked him away as other officers began to approach.
Police, citing preliminary information, said a silver Honda car may have been seen fleeing the homicide shortly after it occurred, but no one was in custody.
Authorities said the victim got into an argument at a party nearby and left the party before the shooting.
Area South detectives are investigating.
