1. Newtown Killings Spark Internet Guerilla War Against Crazies Like Westboro Baptist Church and Other Sickos

The Newtown massacre has brought a sickening response from crazies like the Westboro Baptist Church and some idiot who put up a mocking Twitter account with a bloody kid’s photo labeled “Sandy Hook Victim.” The reaction from Internet...

  3. Faces, some masked, of Anonymous

Two years ago in December, Visa, MasterCard and PayPal cut off all financial services to WikiLeaks. This left the controversial website blocked off from accepting online donations — a state of affairs that did not sit well with members of the sprawling Internet activist group known as Anonymous, which let its collective displeasure be known when it launched brief (but attention-getting) disruptions affecting each company's website. They called it Operation Payback.

The hacker group Anonymous has apparently stepped into the area of cyber-vigilante justice. In a surprising development in the case of a 15 year old female victim of cyber-bullying found dead last Wednesday, the group says it has identified the man responsible for the tormenting of Amanda Todd that set her down a path that ended last week.

  9. The Anonymous Ensemble Puts the Audience in Charge of the Theater

Anonymity is enjoying a kind of a renaissance these days. There's a strong sense that there's a shadowy figure somewhere pulling the strings (think the hacker group Anonymous, the WikiLeaks phenomenon, phishing scams and so on). Liebe Love Amour!, the newest work of interactive theater by the Anonymous Ensemble, meditates on love and emotion, and it's set up to make the audience feel they're the ones in charge, a choose-your-own-adventure of sorts for brainy adults who love film and theater. This New England premiere involves live video processing, theater and improv, strange orchestral music, public domain clips of Golden Age-era Hollywood actors and, I suppose, an audience full of open-minded individuals (names withheld).
