After winning his first PIAA Class AA title Saturday in Hershey, Forest Hills' Cody Law has accepted an invitation to compete in the 39th Annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic on Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House.
The Classic — known as "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling" — is considered the most prestigious high school all-star wrestling meet in the United States.
It pits the best prep seniors in the country against the top seniors from Pennsylvania in a dual-meet format.
The USA vs. Pennsylvania showdown will begin at 6 p.m. There is a preliminary match between WPIAL's best senior wrestlers and an all-star team from Maryland that precedes the main event at 4 p.m.
Law is the son of Trevor and Crystal (Glessner) Law, who are both Somerset Area High School graduates. Cody's grandparents still live in Somerset County, including Rob and Cindy Law of Somerset, Dale and Lorraine Barron of Somerset and Bill and Barb Glessner of Berlin.
Cody, who placed second in the state a year ago, captured the 160-pound AA title on Saturday at the Giant Center with a 5-3 decision over Evan Delong of Kane.
Cody's younger brother Tristan Law, a sophomore at Forest Hills, also placed sixth in the state at 106 pounds on Saturday in Hershey.
