Marion Kohler obtained the recipe for Easy Chicken Divan from her sister-in-law when the two were exchanging recipes about 25 years ago.

In the years since, it's become a  must-have meal for her five children, now grown and living away from home.

"When the kids come home, it's one of their favorite requests," the Sidman woman said.

"I haven't found anybody yet who doesn't like it."

The recipe is a combination of chicken breasts, broccoli, cream of chicken soup, mayonnaise, lemon juice, curry powder, cheddar cheese, bread crumbs and butter.

What makes the recipe unique?

"I think it's the little addition of curry powder," Kohler said. "It gives it just a little different taste."

Kohler said she often cooks the chicken a day ahead, or buys a rotisserie chicken when she's in a hurry.

She prefers fresh broccoli, though will use frozen florets if fresh isn't available.  She doesn't like to use broccoli stalks, which give it a fibery taste.

And only cook the broccoli until it's crisp - it will cook more in the oven when mixed with the other ingredients.

"It's very easy to prepare," she said. "It doesn't take long.

"It's a tried-and-true recipe."
