Witness to a minor miracle
Last week I was recounting the story of a gravely ill heifer calf that was dying during treatment for bloat. Once it became apparent that it was too late to relieve the bloat with the stomach tube, I retrieved a trocar from my truck. When I got back to the calf, the farmer and I rolled her over so that the rumen was facing up. I punched the trocar into the rumen, screwed it into place and removed the stylet. She deflated with a loud PSSSSSHHHHHHhhhhhh like somebody had just let the air out of a balloon.
