7. 5 reasons Spotify poses a threat to iTunes

Spotify is every music pirate's dream made legal. It's free (sometimes), open sharing of music from around the world with peer-to-peer exchange of playlists (via Facebook) in a format that also compensates the artists (if only a penny per play).

  9. Catching up with online music services

Q: I need help on a good music program. I would like to buy (not free sites such as Limewire) and download only music I desire. I hear folks talk about iTunes, but that and VCast seem to be directed to my cellphone. I want to download to my PC. Other people talk about Amazon, Walmart, iPad, etc. I am not a computer expert, but all these different sites have confused me. Here's what I need: Your expertise on a site that has a big choice of music so that I can buy, download and put on a CD.

  13. Closing Comments: Piracy Police

Internet providers are now working with movie studios and record companies to put an end to illegal downloading, but unlike the Napster days where some internet thieves got sued and had to pay up, they’ll now just slow down your internet connection speed to a crawl! I think a piracy police mentality is going to keep lots of eyeballs off of movies and ears from hearing new music and people will still find a way to steal! This stranglehold on end users might have played out better for the companies trying to control theft if they instead would make the delivery of online music and movies super cool, easy and really-really cheap. That way you and I wouldn't be angry with the companies we pay our Internet usage fees to and would pay for music and movies because we would want to! A business acquaintance once said, I’d take selling my stuff at a lower price and doing volume over selling fewer units while charging a premium all day long.
