3. Oscars 2013 preview: MacFarlane, 'Argo' hope to steal the show

"Argo" heads into Sunday's Oscars with the wind at its back, but Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" has the most nominations of any film -- a dozen. Will Ben Affleck's 1970s Iran drama make it a sweep, or are there some surprises in order?

11. Oscars 2013 winners: “Argo” takes home top prize

Channel Guide Magazine
Oscars 2013 winners will always enjoy their triumphs, despite the fact that they'll forever be associated with the year that Seth MacFarlane hosted. No, he didn't turn it into “Family Guy goes to the Oscars,” per se — although those...

13. Oscars 2013: Behind the scenes, the moments you didn't see on TV

Backstage at the Oscars was a place for frayed nerves and celebrity traffic jams, as the complex, performance-heavy show tested the composure of cast and crew alike.

19. And The Oscar Goes To...Argo For Best Picture

The 85th Annual Academy Awards were handed out last night and it looks like Ben Affleck’s Best Director snub didn’t ruin his film’s chances, because Argo continued its award show dominance, nabbing the night’s big honor Best Picture (which was announced by First Lady Michelle Obama). Overall Argo took home three awards, also winning Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing. As for the acting categories, there really weren’t too many surprises, with all of the frontrunners walking away winners. As expected, Best Actor went to Daniel Day Lewis for Lincoln (the first actor to win three Oscars in the Lead Actor category), with Jennifer Lawrence taking home Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook (and falling up the stairs as she went to accept); Anne Hathaway winning Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables and Christoph Waltz winning Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained. Other winners included: Ang Lee, Best Director for Life of Pi; Brave, Best Animated Feature; Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Best Original Screenplay and Adele’s “Skyfall,” Best Original Song.

21. Michelle Obama on the Oscars: The behind-the-scenes story

On Feb. 14, a Hollywood delegation showed up at the White House. Motion Picture Academy President Hawk Koch, Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and film mogul Harvey Weinstein had come to explore a rather important matter (for them): They wanted to see if they could secretly work out the details for Michelle Obama to present best picture at the Oscars 10 days later.

23. Argo, Lincoln and the politics of Hollywood

The Oscar for best picture was won by "Argo," the true tale of a secret rescue mission in Iran during the Carter administration. It beat out "Lincoln," the story of how black Americans were rescued from slavery. Does this mean Jimmy Carter's stock is on the rise? Nope, but Ben Affleck has certainly become a blue chip player in Hollywood.
